Police say a West Virginia couple was caught having sex while driving a stolen RV, leading to a series of criminal charges after a bizarre mid-ride traffic stop
A West Virginia couple is facing a list of criminal charges after allegedly being caught having sex while driving a stolen RV through the streets of Bluefield.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by The Smoking Gun, Matthew McDonnell, 48, and Shannon Bryant, 35, were pulled over by police on July 2 after an officer spotted the pair allegedly engaging in sexual activity in the driver’s seat, while the RV was still moving.

“The vehicle was still in motion,” and the two were “having sex while driving,” the complaint states. When the RV came to a stop outside an Advance Auto Parts store, the officer noted that the couple had switched seats, with Bryant now in the driver’s seat and McDonnell in the passenger seat.

When questioned, Bryant allegedly admitted to police, “We were f---ing,” and appeared “highly intoxicated.” She failed several field sobriety tests. McDonnell told police he had allowed Bryant to drive despite knowing she was under the influence.

A search of the RV uncovered drug paraphernalia, a bag of white powder, a broken glass pipe, and painkillers. Bryant also told police that McDonnell had discarded additional items during the traffic stop. Officers later recovered those items nearby.

Authorities also discovered that the RV had been reported stolen from Princeton, about 10 miles away from where the couple was stopped.

Both individuals were arrested and charged with indecent exposure, possession of drugs, DUI, and possession of a stolen vehicle. McDonnell, who has a prior criminal record, was found to have an outstanding warrant in Tazewell County, Virginia, and is currently being held on $8,000 bond.

Both McDonnell and Bryant have pleaded not guilty.

No one was injured during the West Virginia incident. The case remains under investigation.
