Barred at the border over a past felony conviction, American country singer Charley Crockett has cancelled his Winnipeg performance and scrapped the remainder of his Canadian tour after being denied entry into the country twice, according to a statement posted on his Instagram page.

Charley Crockett has called off his entire Canadian tour after being refused entry into the country on two separate occasions.

Who is Charley Crockett?

Charley Crockett is an American country and Americana singer-songwriter from Texas known for his distinctive blend of traditional country, blues, and Gulf Coast soul. A prolific recording artist, he has built a reputation through relentless touring and independent releases, earning critical acclaim for his throwback sound and storytelling style.

His album “Dollar a Day” was nominated for Best Traditional Country Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards, further cementing his standing in modern roots music, and he is set to release his next album, “Age of the Ram,” in April.

According to CTV News website, the Texas singer said in an Instagram post that border officials denied him entry in both Vancouver and Kelowna, citing a 2016 felony conviction in Virginia for selling, giving or distributing less than five pounds of marijuana.

“Everybody’s got a past. Mine’s still haunting me,” Crockett wrote.

Crockett said officials warned him that another attempt to enter the country could compromise his ability to apply for entry again down the line, prompting him to call off the tour.

According to CTV News website, Jake Vaadeland and the Sturgeon River Boys, a band based in Saskatchewan, were slated to join Crockett as the opening act at several shows, including the Winnipeg performance.

According to Ticketmaster, patrons who purchased tickets for Thursday’s show will receive refunds, which will be processed back to their original form of payment.

Crockett said, “I know this doesn’t begin to make up for y’all’s time and hard-earned money. I apologize to everyone affected.”
