Canada Weather: Snow advisories issued in Central Ontario.

Canada Weather Update: Multiple snow warnings have been issued in parts of Canada as the country braces for snow squalls, which were expected to begin overnight on Sunday (January 18, 2026). In the wake of the adverse weather conditions, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECC) has issued a snow advisory for several areas of Ontario for Monday (January 19, 2026), as reported by CTV News.

Snow squall warnings were issued for the Kingston, Ontario, area, including potential blizzard-like conditions in Prince Edward County, according to Environment Canada, CBC reported. The weather agency, in an orange-level warning issued on Sunday afternoon, had warned that the county could be hit by snow squalls as early as Sunday evening.

It also said that the worst weather will likely arrive on Monday (January 19, 2026), with westerly wind gusts of up to 90 km/h and snowfall accumulation between 20 and 40 centimetres.

Kingston is, however, under a less severe yellow-level warning, with snow squalls beginning overnight or early Monday morning, CBC reported. A snowfall of around 10 and 20 centimetres is expected with wind gusts of 60 km/h on Monday afternoon.

Travel may be ‘extremely hazardous’

The weather agency said that travel could possibly be "extremely hazardous." There are also chances of road closures and power outages. While the winds are most likely to die down Monday night, lake effect snow could continue Tuesday (January 20, 2026) and possibly even Wednesday (January 21, 2026).
