Canada Shooting: Indian origin business tycoon found dead in Abbotsford, B.C., son identifies him as victim of homicide.
A shocking development has surfaced in Canada, where a son has claimed that he identified his father as the victim of a homicide that occurred in Abbotsford, B.C. The victim was identified as Darshan Singh Sahsi, a prominent businessman in Abbotsford, B.C. According to CBC News, Sahsi died in a shooting incident in the city on Monday (October 27, 2025).

Arpan identified his father as the victim of the homicide that police say occurred near the corner of Ridgeview and Summit drives, just before 9:30 a.m., according to Abbotsford Police Department Sgt. Paul Walker, CBC News reported. The 68-year-old businessman was the president of Canam International, which his son Arpan describes as one of the world's largest clothing recyclers.

Police found Sahsi’s body inside a vehicle

While speaking about Sahsi, Walker said they discovered a man inside a vehicle on the suburban street with fatal gunshot wounds. "Despite life-saving measures by first responders on scene, the individual has since passed away," Walker said. "Our condolences to the friends and family of the man," he said, as quoted by CBC News.

Arpan gives details about his father

Arpan stated that his father was born in India's Punjab and started off as a farmer and then worked on a cruise ship before making his way to Canada. He also stated that he was well-known in the local community.

"Of course we're devastated because it does not make sense to us," Arpan said. "There were no threats, there was no blackmail, and there was no extortion," he said.

As officers continued to investigate the shooting incident, three nearby schools were briefly placed under a shelter-in-place protocol "as a precaution," according to AbbyPD, CBC News reported. "No students were harmed or directly impacted," the department said in a post to social media.

"A significant police presence will remain in the area throughout the day supporting the ongoing investigation."

Walker said the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is taking over the case. He wouldn't speculate on whether the shooting may be linked to extortion. "Right now, there are no clear indicators why this shooting occurred," he said. He further stated that early indications suggested the violence was targeted.

Arpan said his dad was a philanthropist who went out of his way to help others, a legacy he hopes to carry on. "I usually go to work with him every day, so I was supposed to be in that truck today," he said. "I love going to work with him because every day he gets another phone call, somebody asking for help. And he never turns anyone away."
