A 71-year-old woman has died following a serious two-vehicle collision in Whitchurch-Stouffville, according to York Regional Police. Police said the crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, at the intersection of Bloomington Road and Thornbay Drive, west of Ninth Line.

The collision involved a passenger vehicle and a dump truck. The woman, who was driving the car, was pronounced dead at the scene after succumbing to her injuries.

The cause of the collision has not yet been determined. York Regional Police launched a fatal motor vehicle collision investigation and temporarily closed Bloomington Road in both directions between Highway 48 and Ninth Line to allow officers to examine the scene and collect evidence.


In an update later on X, police confirmed that Bloomington Road has since reopened to traffic.


Investigators continue to ask anyone with information related to the crash to contact York Regional Police or submit tips anonymously.
