Canada adds more than 100,000 jobs

Canada added 108,700 jobs in April, pushing the unemployment rate down to 8.1 percent.

TORONTO: Canada added 108,700 jobs in April, pushing the unemployment rate down to 8.1 percent.

Statistics Canada said Friday the gain was the biggest ever recorded by the agency in terms of the number of jobs.

The result was more than four times the consensus forecast. The unemployment rate fell from 8.2 percent.
