Volkswagen scandal won't hurt German brand, Frank Appel tells Sueddeutsche
Deutsche Post AG Chief Executive Officer Frank Appel said Volkswagen AG's diesel-cheating scandal probably won't hurt Germany's corporate brand, Sueddeutsche Zeitung cited him as saying in an interview.

"I don't think ‘ Made in Germany' will be damaged," the CEO of Europe's biggest mail service said. "It's also the small and medium-sized companies and not just the large corporations which are responsible for Germany's export boom and the excellent reputation of German products and services."

Deutsche Post wants VW to offer complete transparency on which vehicles are affected by the scandal, Appel said, according to the newspaper. About 20,000 of the Bonn-based company's 90,000 global automobile fleet are made by Volkswagen and almost all of them run on diesel, the CEO is cited as saying.
