The chief executive of Tesco said he wouldn't read too much into the unexpected slowdown in ‌sales ⁠growth ⁠posted by Britain's biggest food retailer in the 13 weeks to May 30, which he said was linked ⁠to the weather.

"I ‌wouldn't ​be ​reading too much ⁠into it," CEO Ken Murphy told ​reporters on Thursday, ​adding that the group was up a against a tough comparative period ‌last year when the weather was "outstanding".

"The biggest ​impact on ​the ⁠market is the weather... the sales growth we had last ​year were truly exceptional."
