Police have questioned Niinami and searched his home in Tokyo, although no illegal drug possession or use has been confirmed, the paper said, citing sources familiar with the matter. Niinami has denied the involvement, the report also said.
Suntory said it would hold a press conference from 0600 GMT on Tuesday, without providing details.
A Suntory spokesperson declined to comment.
