Smart #2
The Smart #2 is a compact two-seater designed for urban driving. The new model brings updated electric vehicle technology, a redesigned safety structure and a dedicated electric platform, as the brand looks to revive its city car heritage.
The Smart #2 measures 2,746mm in length and features a tight turning circle of 6.95 metres, making it suitable for navigating narrow streets and crowded urban areas. It will be launched in the UK in early 2027, with prices expected to start at £17,900 for the entry-level Pure variant.
The new electric car arrives as Smart continues to expand its portfolio beyond compact vehicles into larger electric SUVs. However, the #2 signals that the company intends to retain its focus on small, city-friendly cars.
New Smart #2: Battery, Range And Performance
The Smart #2 is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 80bhp, which drives the rear wheels. The motor is paired with a 35.8kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.According to the company’s stated specifications, the electric city car offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 180 miles on a single charge. It can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 11.6 seconds.

The model also supports DC fast charging at up to 65kW. This represents a 15kW increase over the charging capacity of the previous Smart EQ Fortwo, according to the supplied specifications.
The compact dimensions and rear-wheel-drive layout are intended to make the #2 practical for everyday urban journeys, where manoeuvrability and ease of parking are important considerations.
Smart #2 Dimensions And New Electric Platform
The new Smart #2 is 2,746mm long, making it slightly shorter than the third-generation Smart Fortwo, production of which ended in 2024. Its 6.95-metre turning circle is designed to help drivers navigate tight city streets and make U-turns in confined spaces. The vehicle has been developed on Smart's new Electric Compact Architecture (ECA), a platform designed specifically for the model.Smart #2 Interior And Technology Features
Inside, the Smart #2 combines a compact cabin with a digital dashboard and modern connectivity-focused features. The dashboard includes a 10.1-inch central touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument display for the driver. A dedicated smart pillar integrated into the dashboard allows users to attach small gadgets.Smart #2 Price And Variants
Smart plans to offer the new #2 in three trim levels in the UK: Pure, Premium and Couture Edition. The entry-level Pure variant is expected to start at £17,900 and will feature 15-inch wheels. The price positions the electric city car below the £20,000 mark, although final pricing is yet to be confirmed. The Premium variant will add features such as 11kW AC charging, 16-inch wheels, heated seats and a glass roof. The Couture Edition will offer a more distinctive design and additional premium touches. Smart has not yet confirmed the final prices of all three variants.
For Europe, the smart #2 will initially be offered in three core trim lines — Pure, Pure+ and Premium — alongside the limited Couture Edition.
For China, the smart #2 will be unveiled in Premium and Couture Edition variants.
Pre-orders are scheduled to open in early 2027, ahead of the model's planned UK launch.
