Royal Calcutta Turf Club's monsoon meet to begin from July 15

KOLKATA: The 21-day Calcutta Monsson Meeting 2015 of Royal Calcutta Turf Club ( RCTC) will begin from July 15.

Vice-president, Racing, RCTC, Robin Corner told PTI the event will see a total 148 advertised races, including 44 cup races.

A total 503 horses (including 135 two-year-olds) under the charge of 19 'A' licensed trainers will participate.

21 'A' licenses and 6 'B' licenses have been issued to jockeys and 6 apprentice jockeys, he said.

The important races are Independence Cup (August 19), Calcutta Juvenile Sprint (August 22), Calcutta Monsoon Sprint (August 29), Calcutta Fillies Trial Stakes (September5), Calcutta Colts Trial Stakes (September 12), Stewards Cup (September 26), Calcutta Monsoon Derby (October 4) and Monsoon Cup (October 10).

The advertised stake money for the Monsoon Meeting 2015, including value of cups is Rs 7,95,35,000.
