French automaker Renault will focus on controlling capital and R&D expenditure in its next strategic plan and not allow it to exceed 8% of revenues, finance chief Duncan Minto told analysts on Wednesday.

"We will have a higher focus on fixed costs because we need to protect our break-even point to ensure we have continuity in the rollout of our strategy," Minto said, after the company reported third-quarter sales.
