Prudential taps ex-HSBC exec Douglas Flint as new chair
Douglas Flint will take over as Prudential's new chair in May. He replaces Shriti Vadera, who is stepping down after five years. Flint brings extensive experience from his time at HSBC and Aberdeen Group. Vadera guided Prudential's strategic shift...

Flint has been chairing Aberdeen Group Plc since January 2019. Earlier, he spent over two decades at HSBC, including a stint as Group Chair from 2010 until 2017.
Meanwhile, Vadera, a former UK Labour business minister and ex-chair of Santander UK, led Prudential through a strategic transition that included the group's pivot towards its Asia and Africa businesses.
Although Prudential remains listed in London, the insurer has had little meaningful presence in the UK since spinning off M&G Investments in 2019. Earlier in the month, the firm announced the launch of a $1.2 billion share buyback to be completed by December.
Flint is expected to join the board in March once regulatory approvals are in place and will help with handover before Vadera's departure, Prudential added in its statement.
