Nokia today elected India-origin Vivek Badrinath among new members of its board whose term will end with next annual general meeting in 2015.

ESPOO/ NEW DELHI: Finnish telecom company Nokia today elected India-origin Vivek Badrinath among new members of its board whose term will end with next annual general meeting in 2015.

"The AGM (annual general meeting) resolved to elect nine members to the Board of Directors...Vivek Badrinath and Dennis Strigl were elected as new members of the Board for the same term," Nokia said in a statement.

Nokia board members Risto Siilasmaa, Bruce Brown, Elizabeth Doherty, Jouko Karvinen, Marten Mickos, Elizabeth Nelson and Kari Stadigh were re-elected for a term ending at the close of the Annual General Meeting in 2015, the statement said.

Badrinath's father was from India who moved to France in 1950. Badrinath, born in 1969, is at present Deputy CEO of France-based hospitality firm Accor.

He has worked in India from 2000 to 2003 as the CEO of consumer electronics firm Thomson India. After this, he joined Orange Business Service, a subsidiary of France Telecom.
