German gross domestic product stayed flat between April and June, official data published Friday showed, as fears mount about the health of Europe's largest economy.

The economy stagnated at zero percent in the three-month period, the federal statistics agency Destatis said in a statement. It had fallen into recession around the turn of the year with two straight quarters of negative growth.
