Ryan Roslansky, who headed Microsoft's M365 apps, has decided to leave the company

Microsoft on Thursday said Ryan Roslansky, executive vice president who heads its M365 apps and previously served as LinkedIn CEO, is leaving the company.

* Roslansky became LinkedIn CEO in 2020 and stepped down from that role earlier this year. Dan Shapero will continue as LinkedIn CEO and report directly to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Microsoft said.

* Nadella said in a blog post that Roslansky's team had spent the past year bringing together product, engineering and design foundations for Microsoft's next phase of work around Copilot.

* In the blog, Roslansky said he decided to leave as the next phase of Microsoft's work would require him to be based full-time in Redmond, Washington, while his family is in the San Francisco Bay Area.

* Roslansky will stay through the end of the calendar year as an advisor to Nadella.
