BMW to recall 6,109 cars over fuel pump problem in China

The vehicles were produced between June 12 and November 19, state-run news agency Xinhua reported. The BMW China Automotive Trading Co Ltd will fix the problem free of cost for recalled cars, it added.

BEIJING: Over 6,000 luxury cars made by German auto giant BMW will be recalled in China due to a fuel pump problem that could cause engine failure while driving, a China's quality watchdog said today.

About 6,109 vehicles of BMW's imported mini series will be recalled from April 8. The recall was due to a fuel pump problem that could cause engine failure while driving, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement.

The vehicles were produced between June 12 and November 19, state-run news agency Xinhua reported.

The BMW China Automotive Trading Co Ltd will fix the problem free of cost for recalled cars, it added.

The German carmaker's volume sales in mainland China, the world's largest car market, grew 1.6 per cent in 2015 compared with 16.6 per cent in 2014.
