Acronis to invest $ 55 million in new Singapore R&D centre

SINGAPORE: Acronis, a global leader in data protection, has opened an R&D centre in Singapore and is looking to invest more than 55 million dollars over the next five years in the innovation activities.

Research scope of the centre, to host 120-150 engineers, will include efficient data storage and processing, optimised data transfer protocols, data security and mobile data protection, said Acronis.

The company is expecting to invest more than 55 million Singaporean dollars over the next five years in R&D in the city-state.

"Our strategy focuses on global technological leadership. Acronis' research facility in Singapore will become a software R&D centre that may be one of the largest and most advanced in the region in three years from now," said Mark Shmulevich, Acronis' chief strategy and operations officer.

"The establishment of Acronis' R&D centre in Singapore is not only a testament to our proposition as a trusted regional data hub but also enables companies to go beyond delivering value through Singapore to innovating and creating new business value from Singapore.

Kiren Kumar, Director of the Infocomms and Media Division, Singapore Economic Development Board, said: "We warmly welcome the setup of this centre and look forward to partnering Acronis in its growth."

Acronis was founded in Singapore in 2001.
