Brazil's WTO stance creating tension in Mercosur: Argentina
Brazil's stance in WTO talks has provoked strains within the Mercosur common market area in Latin America.
The Brazilian position "has created tension, but not because of us," the head of Argentina's trade delegation in Geneva, Alfredo Chiaradia said.
Leading trading nations agreed Friday on a draft agreement to form a new World Organization Trade deal, raising hopes of a breakthrough after seven years of deadlock.
Brazil said it could accept the deal but Argentina called it unacceptable. Mercosur was created in 1991 and encompasses four Latin American countries -Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.
