Bombardier takes $131.5 mn order from Libya

OTTAWA: Bombardier Inc said on Thursday that it received a $131.5 million order from Tripoli-based Libyan African Aviation Holding Company for three regional jets.

The company also took options for three more of the CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, which if converted to firm orders would increase the value of the deal to $267.8 million.

The jets will be operated by Libyan Airlines, which currently operates three CRJ900 and two CRJ900 NextGen aircraft in a two-class configuration with seven business class and 68 economy seats.

Shares of Bombardier, which is the world's No 3 civil aircraft maker and No 1 train manufacturer, were up 2 Canadian cents at C$5.20 on the Toronto Stock Exchange at market open.
