Bomb explodes in Sri Lankan capital: police
A bomb exploded on a railway track in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo on Thursday, the second such blast in as many days, but there were no casualties, police said.

COLOMBO: A bomb exploded on a railway track in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo on Thursday, the second such blast in as many days, but there were no casualties, police said.
The blast caused little damage to the railway line at Sedawatte, a slum area of the city, a police official at the scene said. There were no trains in the area at the time of the bombing. There was a similar bomb attack on another railway line just outside Colombo on Wednesday.
The explosions came as police remained on alert for possible bomb attacks by Tamil Tiger rebels who are fighting government forces in the north of the island. Tiger rebels have been blamed for a string of bomb attacks on public transport in recent months.
