BMW Brilliance sales rise by 36 per cent in China
BMW Brilliance Automotive Co, German premium car maker's Chinese joint venture, has sold a record 30,600 locally manufactured vehicles in 2007, a 36 per cent rise over the previous year.
The total sales of BMW 3 Series and 5 Series was 22,500 in 2006. The sales figure for last year included stretch 5 Series, a luxury model, whose sales jumped 61 per cent at 17,647 units, official Xinhua news agency said.
BMW Brilliance was set up in 2003 by BMW and Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd., the country's eighth largest automotive manufacturer in 2007.
German car maker's sales in China last year rose 42 per cent to 51,588 units.
