BG Group hikes bid for Australian energy retailer: report

LONDON: British oil and gas giant BG Group has raised its offer for Origin Energy, Australia's second-largest energy retailer, to 12.7 billion US dollars (8.16 billion euros), the Financial Times said on Thursday.

BG Group had formally offered 12.1 billion US dollars for Origin Energy on April 30.

The FT said BG Group would now increase its cash bid to more than 15 Australian dollars (14.4 US dollars, 9.25 euros) per share to win over the board of Origin Energy.
