WiseTech Global to cut 2,000 jobs as AI overhaul reshapes global workforce
In one of Australia’s largest artificial intelligence-driven workforce reductions, WiseTech Global will cut up to 2,000 jobs, nearly a third of its global workforce, as the logistics software giant pivots aggressively toward automation in a sweeping two-year overhaul.

WiseTech plans to integrate AI into its customer software and internal operations, a move expected to affect about 29 percent of its 7,000 employees across 40 countries.

According to 9News website, in its half-year report, the company said the next phase of its efficiency program will begin in the latter half of the 2026 financial year.

The company said, "As part of WiseTech's long-term strategic focus on higher-margin recurring revenue, and WiseTech's commitment to building a higher-performance culture, this program will likely result in a reduction of approximately 2000 roles in FY26 and into FY27."

The company said the plan could shrink its workforce by as much as 50 per cent, with the first round of reductions concentrated in product development and customer support functions.

The restructuring will also extend to e2open, the company’s recently acquired business.

According to 9News website, the company said evolving AI capabilities are redefining its operational landscape.

Chief Executive Zubin Appoo said,” I am prepared to say this clearly: the era of manually writing code as the core act of engineering is over."

"AI amplifies the productivity of our expertise in logistics and trade, the rich datasets that WiseTech holds, and the network advantage that we have built over 30 years."

Appoo said the company’s continued rollout of artificial intelligence is expected to create a leaner and more efficient organisation.
