Western Australia police launch manhunt for two suspects after man shot in Perth

Police in Western Australia have launched a manhunt for two men after a shooting incident occurred in Perth on Sunday morning (September 13, 2026). The incident came to light after officers were alerted to gunshots at an address on Owen Place in Hamilton Hill, about 23km south-west of the CBD, about 4.35am, according to 9 News and ABC Australia.

Two suspects were believed to be involved in the "targeted" shooting of a 37-year-old man on Sunday morning, according to ABC Australia. 9News reported that he was taken to the hospital after sustaining serious injuries.

Speaking about the incident, WA Police detective Brian Connelly said the man was with another person at the time of the shooting. “It was a very short incident in duration; it was over in a matter of seconds,” he said, as quoted by 9News. A member of the public called and alerted the police and stopped to give the man first aid.


According to reports, police believed that two men involved in the shooting were dressed in all black clothing. A significant police presence was seen in the area, and locals were told to stay away from the area. Residents were asked to lock their doors and windows and stay inside.

Connelly said police strongly suspect the men were known to each other. “Police are confident that this was an isolated incident and there is currently no concern for the safety of the members of the public,” he said, as quoted by 9News.

“I don’t want to go into the specifics of our enquiries, but we’re confident in saying that this is a targeted attack at one individual, and we’re treating it as such.”
