Emergency crews performed CPR at the scene before transporting him to Westmead Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have yet to confirm his identity.
Both the sedan’s driver and the police officer behind the wheel were taken to hospital for mandatory testing as police launched a critical-incident investigation overseen by the Crash Investigation Unit, Auburn Police Area Command, Professional Standards Command, and the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission. A formal report will be prepared for the coroner.
The crash caused significant traffic disruption, with eastbound lanes closed for several hours and congestion extending over 12–17 km. The motorway has since reopened, although delays remain.
NSW Police Commissioner Brett McFadden noted that the motorbike was travelling “well below” the 90 km/hr limit, suggesting its low speed may have been a factor in the crash.
