Australia’s love affair with Great Northern Super Crisp shows no signs of slowing, as the mid-strength beer has once again been crowned the nation’s favourite, marking five consecutive years at the top. According to market research company Circana, the clear-bottled brew dominates beer sales across the country, with 30-can packs emerging as the most popular choice among consumers in 2025.

Originally launched to compete with Corona, Great Northern Super Crisp has become the top-selling beer in Australia for 2025, with 30-can packs leading the way.

Carlton Dry, XXXX Gold, Coopers Pale Ale and VB follow Great Northern in the rankings, based on Circana data compiled with Dan Murphy’s and brewers Asahi and Lion.


According to USA Today, website, Independent beer expert Matt Kirkegaard says Super Crisp has led Australian beer sales since 2020, describing its rise as an “unbridled success.”

He added that the clear-bottled, easy-drinking beer reshaped traditional perceptions of beer.

“The marketing is gender neutral and it fits into that easy drinking lifestyle beer.”

In the tap beer category, Stone & Wood’s Pacific Ale has emerged as Lion’s most widely distributed brew. The brand has proven a valuable investment since the brewer acquired it for $500 million in 2021.
