Man accused of luring teens with bogus film roles for sexual favours
A Sydney-based man accused of impersonating a Disney casting agent to target young actors with bogus film and television opportunities in exchange for sexual favours has been charged with multiple offences and granted bail, a Sydney court heard.

About 9 am yesterday(January 31), tactical police raided Gerard Vamadevan’s Lewisham home, seizing documents and electronic devices.

According to the 2021-22 Personal Safety Survey released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), an estimated 2.7 million Australians aged 18 and over, around 14 percent, or one in seven, have experienced childhood abuse.

According to the 9News website, detectives launched the investigation in November last year after reports a man allegedly used falsified documents to pose as a casting agent for an international company, offering fake TV and film roles in exchange for sexual activity.

A 17-year-old girl is among the alleged victims, she said, “I was lonely and looking for a bit of company."

Representing himself in court, he told the magistrate he believed his actions were lawful.

He is scheduled to appear next week at Downing Centre Local Court.
