The 20-year-old man died at the scene, and the 23-year-old man was rushed to the hospital. The injuries sustained by him are non-life-threatening. Police were called to the Morrison Street car park in Salamanca on Saturday night (October 25, 2025) after reports of a fight between two groups.
According to police, one 20-year-old was taken into police custody and is assisting authorities, 9 News reported. The person has not been charged yet, and police stated that they are still searching for other people involved in the incident.
Amid the ongoing probe, police stated that they believe it was an isolated incident and may have been linked to an incident happened in the past involving a person from each group. Known as a tourist attraction in Hobart, the Salamanca district houses many pubs, bars, and nightclubs.
Meanwhile in another incident, a gunman allegedly opened fire at a home on the NSW Central Coast as two toddlers slept inside, 9 News reported on Sunday (October 26, 2025). Police stated that a shotgun was fired from a passing car into a home in Spencer about 9 PM on Saturday evening (October 25, 2025). A white Ford Territory also sustained damaged due to the alleged shooting incident.
Four people were inside the home when the incident took place, including a one-year-old boy, a three-year-old girl, a 26-year-old woman, and a 52-year-old man. No one sustained injuries in the incident.
