Today presenter Sarah Abo, has announced she is pregnant with her first child, revealing the news during a live broadcast of the breakfast show Today on Wednesday, March 11. An emotional Abo, dressed in white, told viewers that she and her husband Cyrus Moran are expecting a baby boy after years of fertility struggles.

“I’m going to try and fail to maintain my composure. But yes, Cyrus and I are expecting a little baby,” she said on the morning TV show.

The 39-year-old presenter said the journey to pregnancy had been difficult, revealing she lost a baby last year. "It's not as easy as you I suppose sometimes think that pregnancy will be," she said. "It has been a bit of a bumpy ride, but here we are, and yes, it's getting harder to hide.

"As much as I'd like to bury my head in the sand and not address it. We're almost halfway now, so things are going well. And, yeah, so it's good."

Explaining her journey and how difficult it was, Abo said, “This time last year, when we had our last pregnancy loss, and there was one obviously before that. So I think that’s also why I’ve been so cautious about sharing this, which obviously, you know, I’m so thrilled to be with you at home.”

The presenter also thanked supporters and shared a message for others women experiencing pregnancy loss. “You’re not alone – you may feel like you are, but you’re not.” She added about Moran, “He’s going to be the most beautiful father.”

Her co-host Karl Stefanovic became emotional on air as he praised Abo’s strength and resilience. "I work next to you every day, and I know you had some dramas, right? And last year you had so much crap in the newspapers, and it was around that time, and you didn't tell anyone," he said. "You came to work, and your strength and courage during that was unbelievable.

"You fought that on your own with only a couple of people knowing."

Abo, who was born in Syria, immigrated to Australia with her family in 1990 at the age of four and grew up in Melbourne. She has been married to Moran since 2012. The couple both studied at Monash University, with Moran completing a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2004, while Abo began her journalism studies there.
