Martin Luther King Jr
Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister and civil rights leader who became the most prominent spokesperson for the nonviolent struggle against racial segregation and discrimination in the United States. Born in 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia, he rose to national prominence during the 1955-56 Montgomery Bus Boycott and went on to help lead the civil rights movement throughout the 1950s and 1960s.

King is best remembered for advocating nonviolent protest inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and for his powerful oratory, including the famous “I Have a Dream” speech delivered during the 1963 March on Washington. His leadership helped bring about major civil rights legislation, such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 and was assassinated in 1968, leaving a lasting legacy in the fight for equality and justice.

Today’s quote of the day

“Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”

This quote means that great harm can occur when people strongly believe in ideas they do not truly understand or when they stubbornly act on flawed thinking while believing they are morally right. Such people may spread misinformation, support injustice, or resist change, not out of malice but out of conviction, which makes their actions especially dangerous.

Because they are sincere and feel justified, they are often unwilling to question themselves, allowing ignorance to cause more damage than open hostility or intentional wrongdoing.
