Pizza rivalry turns violent: Brawl erupts in Melbourne as men storm restaurant, throw punches and hurl chairs; chaos caught on camera — watch here

Chaos ensued inside a pizza shop in Melbourne when a brawl broke out, leaving the diners sitting inside in a state of shock. A man suffered injuries and was in intensive care following the scuffle. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. While speaking about the altercation that escalated into violence, Daje Pizza restaurant owner Andrea Caroli and his friend said that they were compelled to defend themselves when three men forced their way into the store on Sydney Road in Brunswick last night.

In the CCTV footage shared by 9News, customers can be seen fleeing the shop as punches were exchanged, with chairs, a crowbar and a fire extinguisher also used during the brawl.

Rival pizza shop owner behind attack, claims owner

Speaking to 9News, Caroli claimed that a rival pizza shop owner was behind the attack. The pizza shop opens only on Tuesdays, but the owner revealed that he had been receiving threats since he began renovations last month (February 2026).

"Came into the shop, three of them, three big guys; they started punching and kicking, and they damaged the shop as well," Caroli said, as quoted by 9News.

Caroli suffers black eye, friend bears the brunt of clash

Caroli suffered a black eye, but his friend copped the brunt of the attack and was admitted to the ICU at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He was reportedly in a stable condition with some injuries on his head.

"I've never seen anything like that, and his mouth, blood everywhere, he vomited a few times. All this because we are competition; they're scared that they're going to lose their business,” Caroli said. Despite the turmoil and injury, Caroli continued to serve his customers.
