Following the incident, emergency services were called to the home at about 8.30pm on Friday, October 2, 2026, on Manberry Way in Yangebup. Neighbours came to the rescue and ensured that all the children were moved to safety.
According to police, six children had been taken to hospital in a stable condition, and two men were in hospital in a stable condition, 9News reported. The fire was extinguished, but the house sustained “significant” damage.
The woman who was arrested in connection with the incident has been charged with one count of failing to protect a child from harm. She is set to appear in court on October 6, 2026.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a vehicle rammed into a crowd standing on a road to cheer on the Newcastle Knights rugby team on Saturday (October 3, 2026). The incident occurred in Newcastle, north of Sydney, leaving at least 10 people, including children, injured, multiple news outlets, including news agency AP, reported.
According to the New South Wales (NSW) police, two of the injured, a 5-year-old girl and a 67-year-old man, were in critical condition. The other eight people, who sustained wounds, were in stable condition at a hospital. Those in stable condition included another 5-year-old girl and a 2-year-old girl.
