The victim was treated at the scene and taken to Moruya Hospital in a stable condition . According to 9News, police were told that an unknown man had gone into the hotel and shot the man before stealing cash.
The suspected robber allegedly threatened people inside the hotel and demanded more money before fleeing the hotel. Police were told the man then approached a 17-year-old driver in a Toyota Land Cruiser in a nearby car park before demanding the teen get out of the car , threatening them with the gun. The unknown man left the scene in the car.
The car was reportedly found shortly after, burnt out on the Princes Highway in Narooma. The fire was extinguished shortly after, and the investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a 17-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly setting fire to a car in Merrylands in February 2026. According to 9News, emergency crews were called to Haven Street in Merrylands and found an Audi sedan up in flames. The fire was extinguished; however, the vehicle was destroyed.
No injuries were reported at the time of filing of this report, and after carrying out enquiries, detectives visited a home in Norwest at about 10.45pm on Friday and arrested a 17-year-old boy.
