Mohammad Nawaz turned the tide with a game-changing over as Pakistan clinched a 14-run win over West Indies in the opening T20I of their series in Florida. After being sent in to bat, Pakistan posted 178/6, thanks to a fluent 57 off 38 balls from Saim Ayub.

West Indies started steadily in response, with openers Johnson Charles and 18-year-old debutant Jewel Andrew adding 72 for the first wicket.

However, Nawaz, who had conceded 20 runs in his first three overs, delivered a stunning 12th over, dismissing Andrew (35), Charles (35), and Gudakesh Motie (0) in the space of five balls, reducing the hosts to 75/3.

The collapse continued when Shai Hope fell to Ayub for 2 in the following over, as West Indies lost four wickets for just five runs. Ayub, who also returned 2-20 with the ball, was named Player of the Match for his all-round brilliance.

Late fireworks from Jason Holder (30* off 12) and Shamar Joseph (21 off 12) narrowed the gap, but the West Indies could only manage 164/7.

The defeat adds to a tough stretch for the hosts, who recently suffered an 8-0 clean sweep across formats (Tests and T20Is) against Australia.
