The incident took place when the 25-year-old victim, who reportedly hails from Mount Waverley, was walking to work inside M-City Shopping Centre in Clayton just before 8 AM when she was stabbed by an unknown male.
Passer-by comes to her rescue
A passer-by came to the woman's aid and called Triple Zero . "Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) paramedics assessed and treated one patient at the scene," an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said, as quoted by 9News.
Woman rushed to hospital
The woman sustained injuries following the attack and was rushed to The Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition with upper-body injuries. The 16-year-old boy fled the scene but was arrested a short time later at a medical centre in Clayton. He will be interviewed by police. M-City Shopping Centre management has deployed additional security as a precautionary measure in the wake of the incident.
