Inglis, Green shine as Australia beat West Indies in Andre Russell’s farewell match

Josh Inglis and Cameron Green starred with the bat as Australia spoiled Andre Russell’s farewell in international cricket, securing a dominant eight-wicket win over West Indies at Sabina Park on Tuesday. The victory gave Australia a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.

After Russell delivered a trademark explosive innings - smashing 36 off just 15 balls with four sixes in what proved to be his final international appearance - West Indies posted 172-8.

Russell’s brief but thrilling knock included a brutal assault on Ben Dwarshuis and a towering six off Adam Zampa, showcasing the flair that defined his career.



The 37-year-old eventually fell to a slower ball from Nathan Ellis, mistiming a high edge that was caught by Inglis. He was honored by both teams with a guard of honor and applauded off the field.

Australia’s chase was clinical. Inglis remained unbeaten on 78 from just 33 balls, while Green contributed 56 off 32. The pair put together a 131-run partnership for the third wicket - a new Australian T20I record - to overhaul the target with nearly five overs to spare.

Green had also scored a half-century in the opening match, continuing his strong form in the Caribbean.

Earlier, Adam Zampa led the bowling with 3-29, supported by Glenn Maxwell’s 2-15 and Ellis’s 2-34. West Indies were also hampered by sloppy fielding, dropping at least five catches.

Despite the loss, Russell remained upbeat: "I’m grateful. The result didn’t go our way, but I appreciate the fans and the love."

The series now moves to St. Kitts with the remaining next three games scheduled on Friday, Saturday and Monday.
