Chery Tiggo V: This wild Chinese SUV can turn into a pickup truck and even a camper
Chery Tiggo V: Chery has unveiled the 2027 Tiggo V, a versatile three-row family SUV capable of transforming into a dual-cab ute. This innovative "3-in-1 Family Vehicle" offers SUV, MPV, and pickup utility modes, catering to diverse family needs. ...

According to Drive.com, six different Tiggo V configurations are possible, including a camper setup, although Chery has not yet released images beyond the SUV and ute versions. The vehicle appears to support both seven- and eight-seat layouts, with either a two-seat or three-seat second-row bench.
Chery Australia has not yet confirmed the Tiggo V for local showrooms, but the company has expressed interest in bringing it in for customers who want a more lifestyle-focused option rather than heavy towing or off-road use.
“Certainly, the more lifestyle-focused monocoque [ute], I think has a place. It’s just not before this one [KP31],” Chery Australia chief operating officer Lucas Harris told the outlet.
Three modes: SUV, MPV and PUP
In its official announcement, Chery described the Tiggo V as a “3-in-1 Family Vehicle” that can switch between SUV, MPV, and PUP (pickup utility vehicle) modes.
CEO of CHERY Brand Jeff Zhang said all innovations of the brand are rooted in the original aspiration of “For Family.”
“This is not a slogan, but a commitment to protecting family travel with reliable quality and warm-hearted technology, and TIGGO V is the concrete realization of this promise,” he said.
He added that the letter “V” stands for “Versatility, Value, and Victory.”
Features and expected pricing
In MPV mode, the 2800mm wheelbase supports a full three-row, seven-seat layout along with 42 storage spaces and an N95 healthy cabin.
The Tiggo V is powered by Chery’s sixth-generation Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) system, aimed at balancing stronger performance with lower fuel use.
There is no official pricing yet, but as News.com.au explains, the model is expected to sit above the Tiggo 9, which is priced at $59,990 plus on-road costs. This suggests the Tiggo V may carry only a modest premium over that model if launched in Australia.
