Canberra man who stalked couple at their home and workplace and left notes was denied bail in ACT Magistrates Court

He was arrested on February 15, 2026 (Sunday), at a residence in Cook, according to a police news release. He faced the Magistrates Court on Monday (February 16, 2026), charged with two counts of stalking.
According to the police news release, the 39-year-old man from Cook never met the couple. He attended the home of the couple on four occasions over the past three months and allegedly left notes, police said.
“Police will allege that the man, who is not known to the couple, has attended the home of the couple on four occasions over the past three months, allegedly leaving notes containing false information, on one occasion pretending to be an arborist,” ACT Policing said in a statement.
“It is alleged that he would remain outside the residence after leaving the notes for some time, watching the house,” the statement further read.
The suspect also went to the husband’s workplace and waited for him to return to his vehicle in the car park. “The man has also allegedly attended the husband’s workplace and where he has allegedly stayed in the carpark watching as the husband returned to his vehicle.
About 10.30am yesterday (Sunday, 15 February 2026), police attended a residence in Cook, where they arrested the man,” the ACT Policing release read.
