Sydney West Brawl: As the investigation continues into a brawl in Sydney's west, police have claimed that the two men who were shot may have ties to organised crime as they continue to identify the rest of the people involved in the "planned meeting". Following reports of a brawl, emergency services were called to Boundary Road, Chester Hill, just after 10.30pm yesterday (Thursday, 12 March 2026), according to a NSW news release. Officers were told that as many as 15 people were fighting before two people were shot, it stated.

Detective Inspector Kaan McGregor said police believe there was a "planned meeting" before the scuffle broke out. "The identities of all those people are still being investigated, and the reason for the meeting is not yet determined," he said, as quoted by 9News. ‘He also stated that police do not know if it was a "planned attack" or if the altercation happened abruptly following an argument.

Police found two victims after pursuit

The group left the scene prior to police arrival, according to the news release. “A short time later, police were on Ferndell Street, Guildford, when they located a black sedan being driven in a dangerous manner. When it failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated before it came to a stop nearby. Police approached the vehicle to speak to the occupants and located two men, aged 27 and 24, suffering multiple gunshot wounds,” the release said.

"(The victims) are known to police," McGregor said, as quoted by 9News. "We have received some information indicating they have links to organised crime," he added.

“They were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to a hospital in a stable condition. A third man – the driver of sedan – was spoken to by police and left the scene pending further inquiries,” it further stated.

After police launched an investigation into the incident, a crime scene was established. Paramedics rushed them to hospital in a stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, and police spoke to the driver before allowing him to leave the scene pending further enquiries.

Cops probe use of firearms

Police said they are investigating how many firearms were used in the alleged attack. "At least three shots were fired," McGregor said. They stated that they spoke to the two victims "briefly" since the incident, and the men have "cooperated with police direction". The 24-year-old has been released from hospital, whilst the 27-year-old has undergone surgery.
