A man has been shot dead in what police believe was a “targeted” attack inside a high-rise suburban apartment complex in Melbourne’s east. Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting, which occurred at an address on Whitehorse Road in Box Hill in the early hours of the morning of Thursday, April 9.

Emergency services were called to the apartment complex about 1.50am following reports of an altercation. As per the Victoria police, the man, who has yet to be formally identified, died at the scene. A crime scene has been established and investigations are ongoing.



According to ABC News, two residents reported hearing gunshots, with one believing the sound came from the 11th floor. The outlet also reported that Fire Rescue Victoria responded to the building around 1:30am after a fire alarm was activated.
