Four states face a scorching heatwave next week, with inland areas hitting up to 48°C
The heat will peak in Western Australia this weekend before spreading across southern and south-eastern Australia next week.
Weatherzone forecasts temperatures in Western Australia to hit the low-to-mid 40s by Monday, before the heat moves into South Australia and central Australia.
The heat will hit Victoria and NSW, with inland areas hottest, but cities won’t escape, with Melbourne expected to hit 30-39°C and Adelaide 39-41°C.
Mildura in regional Victoria could hit 45°C next week.
"It's too early to know exactly how hot this air mass will be as it spreads across Australia next week," Weatherzone meteorologist Ben Domensino said according to 9News website.
"However, numerous computer models suggest temperatures could reach around 45 to 46 degrees in parts of WA, SA, Vic and NSW, with some spots possibly reaching about 48 degrees. The hottest weather over the coming week will occur inland, away from Australia's state capital cities, but the major cities won't completely escape the heat."
Parts of every Australian state and territory are expected to experience a heatwave next week, with Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania likely to record the most extreme temperatures.
