ASX closes day on positive side on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
The Australian Stock Exchange closed on a positive note on Thursday (November 6, 2025) with The S&P/ASX 200 gaining 26.30 points or 0.30% to 8,828.30 after setting a new 20-day low. The top performing stocks in this index were LIGHT & WONDER INC. and EMERALD RESOURCES NL, up 8.21% and 6.67% respectively.

According to the ASX website, the index has lost 0.64% for the last five days, but sits 3.15% below its 52-week high.

The Australian market saw modest gains across major indices. The S&P/ASX 20 rose 0.3% to close at 4,900.00, up from 4,884.60. The S&P/ASX 50 also advanced 0.3%, finishing at 8,507.10 compared to 8,477.70 previously.

Similarly, the S&P/ASX 100 gained 0.3%, ending the session at 7,355.60, while the broader S&P/ASX 300 edged up 0.3% to 8,775.20, up from 8,749.90. Overall, the Australian equities market reflected steady upward momentum across all major indices.

As of the latest trading session, the S&P/ASX 200 saw notable movements among its top gainers and decliners.

Leading the top gainers was Light & Wonder Inc. (LNW), rising 8.207% to close at $124.850, an increase of $9.470. Emerald Resources NL (EMR) followed with a 6.666% gain, finishing at $5.120, up $0.320. Ramelius Resources Limited (RMS) advanced 5.625% to $3.380, while Westgold Resources Limited (WGX) climbed 5.313% to $5.550. Rounding out the top performers, Amcor PLC (AMC) gained 5.012%, closing at $12.780, up $0.610.

On the other end of the spectrum, James Hardie Industries PLC (JHX) led the decliners, falling 12.653% to $25.750, a drop of $3.730. DroneShield Limited (DRO) slipped 11.689% to $3.400, down $0.450, while Neuren Pharmaceuticals Limited (NEU) declined 10.431% to $18.120, losing $2.110. IPH Limited (IPH) decreased 5.406% to $3.500, down $0.200, and Mesoblast Limited (MSB) rounded out the list with a 4.980% fall to $2.290, a decline of $0.120.

These movements highlight a mixed session for the Australian market, with resource stocks showing strength while select industrial and biotech names faced pressure.
