AI-driven roles are reshaping Australia’s fastest-growing jobs landscape
Artificial intelligence and technology roles are driving Australia’s fastest-growing job market, with AI engineers leading the surge over the past year. LinkedIn’s research, examining millions of roles between January 2023 and July 2025, found tech positions dominating the top 15 fastest-growing jobs.

According to 9News website, roles like chief risk officer and director of artificial intelligence also featured prominently, highlighting AI’s growing impact across industries. Experts say AI is no longer a niche skill but an essential part of leadership and everyday work, shaping the future of careers nationwide.

Fastest growing jobs



AI engineer: AI engineers, who create systems that analyse data, recognise patterns, and make predictions, are in soaring demand in Australia as generative AI spreads across industries.

Chief Risk Officer: Chief risk officers, who assess and manage threats to operations, finances, and reputation, are becoming central to strategic decision-making as Australian firms face growing cybersecurity and regulatory challenges.

Mechanical Engineer: Mechanical engineers, who design and test systems and devices for safe and efficient operation, are in rising demand to support Australia’s infrastructure and energy transition.

Director of Artificial Intelligence: Directors of artificial intelligence, who guide AI strategy and implementation, are increasingly sought as Australian C-suite executives upskill to lead AI governance and transformation.

Organisational Development Manager: Organisational development managers, who enhance workplace structures and performance, are in rising demand as businesses implement change-management strategies to adapt to AI.

Legal Director: Legal directors, who oversee compliance, contracts, and regulatory matters, are increasingly in demand in Australia’s complex landscape shaped by AI, ESG, and private-capital investments.

Artificial intelligence is taking over the world, transforming industries and reshaping the workforce. AI, a branch of computer science, enables machines to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as learning, reasoning, and problem-solving.
