Argentina explores bilateral biz opportunities
A business delegation from Argentina was here on Monday to promote bilateral trade and tap business opportunities in sectors like agriculture, hydro-power generation, pharmaceuticals and other industrial segments.

MUMBAI: A business delegation from Argentina was here on Monday to promote bilateral trade and tap business opportunities in sectors like agriculture, hydro-power generation, pharmaceuticals and other industrial segments.
An interactive meeting was organised in this regard by the Central region of Argentina and the Federal Council of Investments of Argentina (CFI), in cooperation with the Argentine Embassy in India.
Headed by the three Governors from the Central Region of Argentina comprising of Cordoba, Entre Rios and Santa Fe provinces along with a high level business delegation from 35 companies, the delegates said they would like to promote trade links mainly in the areas of agricultural machinery, animal feeds, fruit juices, citrus fruits, dairy products, food processing machinery, fresh fruits, oils and poultry.
They would also concentrate on areas like hydraulic lifts, machinery and parts, metallurgy or metal working, pre-fabricated metallic buildings, motor vehicle parts and components, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, ports, steel, orthopaedic appliances and artificial body parts, veterinary medicine, water treatment products, equipments and others.
CFI Secretary General Juan Jose Ciacera said, "Argentina more than quadrupled its exports to India in the past decade, from USD 183.3 million in 1996 to more than USD 739.1 million recently. Of this, the Central region's contribution was 79 per cent of the total."
Indian exports to Argentina stands at more than USD 249.6 million. The main items exported are plastic, and their manufactures, organic chemicals, parts and accessories for motor vehicles, machines and equipment, especially computers, yarns and synthetic fibres.
