Air France, China Southern to set up cargo joint venture

Air France-KLM said Monday it has reached agreement with China Southern Airlines, the largest Chinese carrier by fleet size, on setting up a cargo joint venture.

PARIS: Air France-KLM said Monday it has reached agreement with China Southern Airlines, the largest Chinese carrier by fleet size, on setting up a cargo joint venture.

It said the two airlines reached "an overall accord with a view to setting up a Sino-European cargo joint venture ... (which) should be in place between now and the end of the year.

In June last year, Air France-KLM said it was in discussions with China Southern on setting up a cargo venture.

"The company is actively pushing forward the joint venture project with Air France-KLM to develop the scale of our cargo transportation capacity," China Southern said in a statement last month.
