African, Arabian countries seek Indian investment
Looking to strengthen economic ties with India, the African countries and the Arab Leagueon Wednesday sought Indian expertise and investment in many key areas, including agriculture, health, education and IT.
While Nigeria wants India to help it exploit its abundant natural resources, besides assistance in developing agriculture, the Arab League wants to benefit from the sub- continent in areas such as health, education and scientific knowledge.
"We are looking up to Indian investments to achieve accelerated growth. We are rich in mineral resources but lack industrial capacity to process these," Nigerian High Commissioner Lawal M Dutsin-Ma said while speaking at the business meeting conference, organised by Assocham, with Ambassadors and commercial counsellors of Arab and African countries here on Wednesday.
He said Nigeria is inviting investors in oil and gas, minerals such as gold, silver, and power sectors.
A high-powered small and medium enterprises delegation is expected to visit Chandigarh during its trip to India.
He said some Indian companies already have sizeable investments in textiles, chemicals, electrical equipment, pharmaceuticals, plastics and fishing.
He further said that Indian companies can not only export gas and oil to Europe but also bring it to India.
