Guwahati: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday alleged iconic singer Zubeen Garg was murdered in Singapore. "It was a plain and simple murder. While one person committed the crime, several others helped him in the crime," he said in the assembly.

The chief minister's response came as the Opposition moved an adjournment motion, demanding discussion on Zubeen Garg and the status of the inquiry over his death.

Giving the status of the inquiry, he said Assam Police was sure from day three of the investigation that it was not a case of culpable homicide but a "plain and simple" murder. "That is the reason, the Assam Police have added Section 103 of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) with permission from the court."
