Yediyurappa's granddaughter Dr Soundarya dies by suicide

Senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa's grand-daughter Dr Soundarya (30) was found hanging in her flat at Vasanthnagar in the city on Friday morning.

Police suspected it to be a case of suicide, though she had not left behind any note. The High Grounds Police have taken up investigations.

Her family members performed her last rites on Friday evening.


Dr Soundarya, a medical doctor, married Dr Neeraj three years ago and has left behind a nine-month old baby. She was said to be alright in the morning, but Dr Neeraj returned from his hospital after their domestic help alerted that his wife had locked up from inside and was not opening the door.

Dr Soundarya is the daughter of Yediyurappa's daughter Padmavathi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda were among the prominent people who called Yediyurappa and offered condolences.
