The national capital is grappling with waterlogging and signs of possible flooding as alerts continue after heavy rainfall on Wednesday. Morning visuals of Thursday from Loha Pul and nearby areas depicted the expanded Yamuna River that continues to wreak havoc.

Water from the overflowing Yamuna River entered parts of Delhi causing severe waterlogging in many areas, including Delhi's Monastery Market area and Kashmere Gate.

In the Civil Lines area of Delhi, citizens witnessed submerged vehicles and flooded building compounds on Bela Road as water from the overflowing Yamuna River entered the area.

The Yamuna River continues to flow above the danger level following heavy and continuous rainfall on Wednesday.

The authorities have relocated citizens living in low-lying areas near the Yamuna River, anticipating the flood emergency. Relief camps near Mayur Vihar-Phase 1 were flooded as the river continues to wreck havoc in the city.

On Wednesday afternoon, heavy rains lashed parts of Delhi-NCR, resulting in traffic congestion and waterlogging in low-lying areas. This also caused the Yamuna river to again flow above the danger mark.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a thunderstorm with rain for Thursday, followed by generally cloudy sky with moderate rain on Friday.

The weather agency has also predicted a thunderstorm with rain for the upcoming Saturday, and generally cloudy sky for Sunday and Monday (September 7 and 8).

Due to rising levels of the Yamuna river caused by the continuous monsoon rains in Delhi, shopkeepers in Delhi's Monastery market removed their goods from their shops as a preventive measure against possible flooding.

A shopkeeper from the area told ANI, " I am emptying out my shop as the Administration has given us a warning (regarding rising water level in the river). The market will now remain shut for the next 4-5 days."

The authorities closed the old Yamuna Bridge, or the Loha Pul for vehicular traffic as they issued a flood warning for the river.
